The Midas Touch of Mary Portas
The Midas Touch of Mary Portas came to Basingstoke recently with the first of seven "Successful Retailing" Master Classes being launched. The series of workshops are developed by Skillsmart Retail and delivered exclusively through the National Skills Academy for Retail.
A touch or May Portas magic descended on owners and managers of local retailers recently when an inspirational masterclass was held at the Basingstoke Innovation Centre.
The mini taster session marked the launch of seven Mary Portas masterclasses beginning in January 2011 which will cover all aspects of creating and running a successful business.

Queen of Shops master classes provide vital boost to independent retailers
BCOT is set to host a series of retail master classes inspired by BBC TV's Queen of Shops, Mary Portas.
Created by Skillsmart Retail, the Sector Skills Council for Retail, the Mary Portas Guide to Successful Retailing is being delivered nationally through the National Skills Academy for Retail's network of 38 retail skills shops across the UK - including Basingstoke.
Skills shop will help growth of retail industry
A skills shop – the first of its kind in Hampshire – has opened at Basingstoke College of Technology.
