Retail Ambassador Programme
Do you enjoy working in Retail?- Do you get excited when talking to people about your job?
- Would you like to promote Retail as a positive Career choice?
Then the role of Retail Ambassador is for you!
The Retail Ambassador programme is a scheme developed by Skillsmart Retail (the Sector Skills Council for Retail) in partnership with employers.
Retail Links needs Ambassadors from shop floor to board room level to champion the sector in schools and colleges across the UK. Your enthusiasm and passion for this highly skilled Industry will encourage young people to consider a Career in retail and present the sector in a positive light as a vibrant and exciting professional career option.
Skillsmart Retail offers full training and support materials.
Academic qualifications are not essential to be an Ambassador and we anticipate that Ambassadors could come from differing roles and levels. The only common requirement is your passion for retail!
- An Ambassador could be a young apprentice who has completed their apprenticeship with flying colours and has the enthusiasm to tell their story to students considering their options.
- An Ambassador could be a Manager from any job role in the retail business, who can talk about how they reached their position and what qualifications or experience they needed to get there.
- An Ambassador could be an ex-retail employee from a small or large company who has changed their career path in retail i.e. become a shopping centre manager or working for a retail training provider and has new experiences to share with individuals.
The retail skills shops have set aside dates for the first phase of training for Retail Ambassadors.
The free training takes half a day. The first training day took place on the 26th June 09 at House of Fraser in Reading and was a huge success.
The next training day will be on 30th October 09, please contact us for further details
