Distribution, Warehousing & Storage NVQ L2
This NVQ is designed to provide additional training to those working with the warehousing, distribution and storage industries.
To achieve a full award at Level 2 candidates must complete eight units in total; three mandatory units and five optional units.
The mandatory units are:
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace
- Contribute to keeping the workplace secure
- Work effectively in own organisation
The optional units may be chosen from four groups and include:
Group 1: Stock storage and order processing
- Receive goods and materials into storage
- Put goods and materials into storage
- Maintain the quality of goods in storage
Group 2: Promoting products to customers
- Help customers to choose products
- Provide information and advice to customers
Group 3: Customer services
- Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
Group 4: Organisational effectiveness
- Maintain the safety of high risk goods and materials
- Maintain hygiene standards in handling and storing food products
Distribution, Warehousing & Storage NVQ L3
This NVQ is designed to reflect the work of warehousing and distribution staff across a wide range of industries and types of organisation and is for those who are working with a significant degree of autonomy and personal responsibility, for example in a supervisory or team leading role.
To achieve a full award at Level 3 candidates must complete eight units in total; two mandatory units and six optional units.
The mandatory units are:
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships
The optional units may be chosen from three groups; 1, 2 and 3. A full list of optional units is available on request. Listed below is a sample
Group 1: Stock management
- Organise the receipt and storage of goods
- Audit stock levels and stock inventories
- Maintain systems and facilities for distributing stock
Group 2: Customer services
- Organise, deliver and maintain reliable customer service
- Improve the customer relationship
- Monitor and solve customer service problems
Group 3: Organisational effectiveness
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of operations
- Plan, monitor and adjust staffing levels and schedules
- Contribute to the selection of personnel for activities
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with those for whom you have responsibility
Warehouse & Distribution Apprenticeships - NVQ L2
Warehouse & Distribution Apprenticeships provide work-based learning and development for 16 - 24 year olds. Warehouse & Distribution apprentices work towards the following qualifications:
- Distribution, Warehousing & Storage NVQ L2
- Key Skills Qualifications: Communication L1 and Numeracy L1
- Two additional enhancements, either units from a related NVQ or a certificated short course such as Health & Safety

Warehouse & Distribution Advanced Apprenticeships - NVQ L3
Warehouse & Distribution Advanced Apprenticeships provide work-based learning and development for 16 - 24 year olds. Advanced apprentices work towards the following qualifications:

Foundation Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain
The Foundation Degree is designed with the collaboration of employers, ie. with the needs of both employers and employees firmly in mind. It will give you not only marketable academic skills but solidly work-based practical skills as well.
Ideally candidates will have A Level qualifications, however previous knowledge and life experience are also highly important. If candidates have appropriate industry experience, no qualifications are necessary.
